You are a killer
Yes, we are cruel and foolish, I think you can’t agree with me. Let me explain how I can say this.
Many of our lives are under control of single use plastics. Do you know we can’t spend at least one week without using this single use plastic.
What is the meaning of single use plastic?
In simple terms, use of thorough plastic items of called single use plastics. Example: – shopper bags, food packages, plastic bottles, straws, plastic containers, cups, and cutlery. Let’s go and check out few types of single use plastic items. Because it will take so many pages to explain all these things. That means we are using that much of single use plastics.
Three types of single use plastics are very dangerous. The second one will definitely shock you.
1. Single use plastic bottles: – The single use plastic bottles are manufactured, then filled with water or soft drink etc… Then moved to a store, and these bottles are waiting for thirsty customers. After purchasing we drink it and throw it into a dustbin. We think that our job is done. We don’t know what will happen, where it will be travelling. If they were moved into a recycling bin, they have some restrictions due to recent limitations in how recyclables are internationally transferred and accepted for processing many of these bottles will unfortunately end up in landfills rather than recycling. However, in some poor countries means having no facilities to manage the waste, the bottles are landfills, some broken particles of bottles make their way into our water ways, at last they pollute our Oceans. Wind also helps plastic bottles to move very easily from one place to another. In that way the bottles enter into lakes, rivers and other waterways and finally these are deposited in the Oceans.
Not only Ocean pollution, but we indirectly kill so many water animals. Plastic particles like bottle caps, broken parts of bottles are eaten by water animals because they think that they are food. So please try to avoid single use plastic bottles. Don’t forget to take a water bottle before you leave from home. It is good for our health and environment.
2. Single use cutlery items: – The second one is single use cutlery items. Cutlery means forks, knives, and spoons. These are hard to discard. They don’t go through the recycling process, because of their size, and weight. Means they are in small size and light weight. This single use cutlery made from Either Polypropylene.
Do You know something, each year 40,000,000,000 plastic forks, spoons, and knives are used and thrown away. See how many zeros there are to make our environment become zero. It is really terrible.
Why are we doing this. We have some alternatives, why are we not using those things? We have reusable and eco-friendly cutlery items which are made with stainless steel and wood etc…
Do you know about Narayan Peesapati from Hyderabad. Who has designed an edible spoon made of millet fork. It is really great.
Plastic straws are unnecessary utensil for the vast majority of people and are usually thrown away after just one use. They are maybe small and lightweight but they’re a BIG problem. These are not recyclable, so they end up in landfill and it can travel by wind and enter into Rivers, Lakes, and Oceans. Plastic straws can stick and kill sea water animal like sea turtles, dolphins, and other sea animals. These plastic straws get lodged in their noses, throats and stomachs. I have seen a video in a YouTube channel, it’s really scary and feels guilty. One sea turtle has a straw in its nose, some great people are trying to remove it, in that process the turtle’s nose started bleeding. The turtle was suffering a lot, I felt really guilty, it’s because our negligence.
Please give-up to single use plastic cutlery. If you are going outside, try to drop a spoon along the water bottle in your bag. It is just a small thing, but it can reflect on our environment.
3. It’s about Tea bags: – Here how many of you use Tea bags daily?
The answer is so many people. You know last September, researchers at Mc Gill University, Canada had analyzed the effects of placing four different commercial Tea bags into boiling water. They found that a single bag releases around 11.6 billion microplastic particles, and even 3.1 billion nano plastic particles, into the cup. If it is taken daily, we will face many health problems.
According to the environmental Audic Committee, Tea bags are a major source for polluting our waterways due to the non-recyclable components.
Make sure your Tea bag is free of epichlorohydrin. Or you can make your Tea with Tea powder. This better for your health and planet too.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) 300 million tons of plastic are produced in the world each year. In these 300 million tons 14 million tons end up in the Ocean.

Save Oceans, Save planet.
FAQ’S
1.How does single use plastic affect the environment? A. These plastics take up valuable land space, as they accumulate faster in the environment than they decompose.
2. Does single use plastic cause climate change? A. The plastic industry is responsible for at least 232 million tons of planet-warming emissions each year.
3. How does plastic pollution affect the Ocean? A. The most visible impact of plastic debris are the ingestion, suffocation and environment of hundreds of marine species. Marine wildlife such as seabirds, whales, fish and turtles mistake plastic waste for prey; most of them, then die of starvation as their stomachs become filled with plastic.
4. How can we stop plastic in the Ocean? A. Reduce your use of single use plastic…
